Ramallah – June 7, 2026 Major General Iyad Barakat, Commander of the Customs Police, received Major General Akram Thawabteh, Director General of the Civil Defense, at his office in Ramallah on Sunday. They discussed the formation of joint committees to develop economic sectors and mitigate risks within them.

The meeting also addressed coordination mechanisms, particularly those related to protecting public health and safety and enhancing joint preparedness, especially in the solar energy sector, private and tourist villas, and vehicle scrap yards in various areas.

For his part, Major General Akram Thawabteh commended the Customs Police's efforts in protecting the national economy and combating smuggling, emphasizing the significant improvement in performance achieved by the agency under Major General Iyad Barakat's leadership.
