The Customs Police handled 52 cases over the past week in cooperation with partner agencies
Key cases included:
22 cases handled in cooperation with the Ministry of Finance to boost state revenues and replenish the treasury, involving:
- 19 tax and customs cases, with taxpayers referred to the Ministry to finalize their commercial transactions.
- 3 cases involving smuggled tobacco and products banned from circulation.
28 cases handled in cooperation with the Ministries of National Economy and Health to prevent the spread of illegal goods, most notably:
- Seizure and destruction of approximately 4 tons of expired food unfit for human consumption.
- Seizure of 378 kg of slimming pills and empty containers lacking Arabic labeling; these were impounded pending further legal procedures.
- Seizure of approximately 5 kg of slimming products banned from circulation; these were handed over to the competent authorities.
2 cases handled in cooperation with the Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy, involving:
- 19 unlicensed parcels; the seized items were handed over to the competent authorities.
Regarding public awareness and direct engagement with citizens: The agency conducted numerous awareness lectures benefiting approximately 850 individuals across universities, colleges, summer camps, and civil society organizations in the northern governorates.
The Customs Police urges citizens to report smuggled, spoiled, or counterfeit goods, as well as price manipulation or monopolistic practices, by calling the toll-free number 132 or contacting the agency via its official Facebook page.
