Ramallah _ November 6, 2022 A press release issued by the Department of Public Relations and Information in the Customs Police stated that during the month of October, the agency dealt with 332 cases in cooperation with civil partner agencies and the relevant security services, in the context of combating the phenomenon of smuggling in all its forms and protecting National economy.
The statement indicated that the cases were divided between tax and customs issues, in addition to issues related to the economic, health, agricultural and public safety fields.
The details of the statement stated that the device dealt with:
- 219 cases in cooperation with the Ministry of Finance to improve state revenues and provide funds to the treasury, which are detailed as follows:
Seizing 154 tax and customs cases and transferring taxpayers to the Ministry to complete their commercial transactions.
- 54 cases of goods coming from Israel that did not carry a clearing bill were seized.
- 11 cases were seized in the field of smuggled tobacco, which is prohibited from trading due to its economic damage and draining the state treasury.
_ Dealing with 57 cases in cooperation with the Ministry of National Economy to prevent the spread of illegal and settlement goods, which are detailed as follows:
- Approximately 188.2 tons of expired goods were seized and handed over to the competent authorities to take the legal requirement.
- 4.9 tons of cosmetics and catering materials that did not carry an identification label in Arabic and materials that violated specifications and standards were seized.
- 1265 pieces of car accessories produced by settlements were seized and banned from circulation.
In the same context, 33 cases were dealt with in cooperation with the Ministry of Health to provide food and health security, during which:
_ Approximately 1.1 tons of expired materials were destroyed, according to the decision of the competent authorities.
Approximately 783 kilos of nutritional supplements, 3600 laughing gas packages and 890 sexual stimulants banned from circulation were seized, and they were handed over to the competent authorities.
_ 17 cases in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture and in support of the agricultural sector and the promotion of local production, including:
_ 14 cases of agricultural products that do not carry agricultural permits or import permits or are prohibited from trading by a decision of the Minister of Agriculture.
_ 3 cases for animal products that do not carry agricultural permits or import permits or are prohibited from trading by a decision of the Minister of Agriculture.
- 5 communications cases in violation of the law in cooperation with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology:
_ During which 27 cellular devices and 25 routers that did not have the necessary licenses from the Ministry of Communications were seized, in addition to the seizure of 7 postal parcels that were forbidden to be circulated except through the Palestinian Post, which is prohibited from circulation. The seizures were handed over to the Ministry until the completion of legal procedures.
_ One case, in cooperation with the Environmental Quality Authority, during which:
_ 70 tires (used kushuk) as it is a waste hazardous to the environment and in violation of the applicable Palestinian laws and regulations, as it was handed over to the competent authorities.
