In a move to enhance cooperation: The Customs Police receives the Dean of the Faculty of Law at Palestine Ahliya University

 

Ramallah, April 23, 2026 – The Customs Police in Bethlehem Governorate received Dr. Muhammad Sa’abneh, Dean of the Faculty of Law at Palestine Ahliya University, to strengthen cooperation and promote applied legal education. Discussions focused on facilitating academic and training visits for students at the Customs Police headquarters, aiming to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical experience.

Dr. Sa’abneh was received by Colonel Abdul Karim Basayta, Director of the Customs Police in Bethlehem Governorate, Major Ahmed Husni, Director of the Legal Department, and Major Hatem Al-Hadari, Director of Public Relations. The reception reflected a spirit of cooperation and openness to partnership with the university in serving its educational and national mission.

During the meeting, the Dean of the Faculty of Law conveyed the greetings of Professor Dr. Imad Al-Zeer, President of Palestine Ahliya University, to Colonel Abdul Karim Basayta, expressing his appreciation for the warm welcome and commending the national role played by the Customs Police in protecting the national economy, encouraging investment, enhancing food security, and combating economic crimes. He also emphasized that this visit comes within the framework of the college's approach to developing effective field-based legal training courses that enable students to familiarize themselves with the real workings of state institutions and enhance their professional and practical readiness.

For his part, Colonel Abdul Karim Basayta welcomed the Dean of the College, stressing the importance of this visit and expressing the department's readiness for joint cooperation with the Faculty of Law. He offered to receive students, introduce them to the role of the Customs Police, its responsibilities, operational mechanisms and procedures, and its relationship with the relevant judicial authorities.

The meeting also addressed the importance of the legal dimension in the department's work, through the role of the Legal Department in organizing procedural paths and following up on cases within the approved legal frameworks. This reflects the integration between field work and legal reference in the Customs Police's performance of its duties.

This visit comes within the framework of the Faculty of Law at Palestine Ahliya University's commitment to engaging with official state institutions.
