Ramallah, January 15, 2026 – The Arab American University awarded His Excellency President Mahmoud Abbas of the State of Palestine an honorary doctorate in humanities in recognition of his role in supporting higher education and scientific research. The award was presented during an official ceremony held today, Thursday, at the university campus in Ramallah.

The ceremony was attended by the Vice President of the State of Palestine, the Prime Minister, several ministers, members of the Palestinian leadership, accredited ambassadors, the Commander of the Customs Police, Major General Iyad Barakat, security chiefs, heads of official bodies, as well as the university administration and deans of faculties.

The occasion also included the inauguration of the Artificial Intelligence and Digital Transformation building, reflecting the university's commitment to developing education and scientific research, promoting digital transformation, and keeping pace with technological advancements.
