The Customs Control Department handled 52 cases last week in cooperation with partner agencies.
The most prominent of these were as follows:
30 cases were handled in cooperation with the Ministry of Finance, with the aim of improving state revenues and providing the treasury with funds. These cases included:
- 21 tax and customs cases, with taxpayers referred to the Ministry to complete their commercial transactions.
- 6 cases related to smuggled and prohibited tobacco.
15 cases were handled in cooperation with the Ministries of National Economy and Health, to prevent the spread of illegal goods. The most prominent of these cases were:
- Approximately 4 tons of expired food were seized and destroyed.
- 11,250 kg of energy drinks were seized in violation of mandatory regulations and handed over to the relevant authorities.
One case, in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture, involved the seizure of 864 liters of unfit (adulterated) olive oil and handed over to the relevant authorities.
Three cases, in cooperation with the Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy, resulted in the seizure of:
21 Israeli postal parcels and six banned Israeli SIM cards. The seized items were handed over to the relevant authorities.
Three cases, in cooperation with the Environmental Quality Authority, resulted in the seizure of
40 tons of construction waste and 140 car tires, all originating from Israel. These tires were returned to their source.
